Panascope Viewer
The restriction of ambient light while viewing radiographic studies has long been understood to be appropriate to improved perception of detail and contrast. Use of the Panascope not only restricts ambient light but also, due to the color corrected lens plate, concentrates the light transmitted through the radiograph from the view box to the eye of the observer.
The Panascope will improve the observer’s perception of radiographic detail and contrast while viewing any radiograph. This feature, while useful for any radiographic study, is of particular importance in the interpretation of mammographic images where subtle contrast differences and fine detail can make a difference in diagnosis.
The focal range of the Panascope with the #2 lens is in excess of 40 cm to allow the observer the flexibility of viewing either a large area of interest or a small segment of a film without losing focus.
The lens plate can easily be removed for cleaning by simply removing the two retaining nuts and lifting the lens plate out. The Panascope comes with a #2 (1.5x) lens installed. Optional #3 and #4 lenses provide additional magnification with a corresponding reduction in viewing distance. The #3 lens magnifies 1.75x at 14 inches. The #4 lens magnifies 2x at 10 inches and is available on special order only, not installed.
